Meet Milicya
Born Milica Kralj (ex Andelic) in 2001 in Zaječar, Serbia, she started expressing her musical talent from a very young age. She started singing in a children’s choir when she was four and started studying classical piano at the age of
eight.
During highschool she was engaged in various musical and creative projects and she started working intensively on her voice. In 2020 she started her bachelor studies, enrolling in the Jazz singing program at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz in the class of Dena DeRose and finished it in July 2024 “with honors”.
Although her repertoire is mostly jazz, her influences and inspiration for her own music vary from Balkan Traditional Music that she grew up with, Pop and R’n’B that she listened to most through her teens and all kinds of Jazz that she’s still exploring today.
She earned multiple prizes not only for musical but also for theater and multimedia projects: first prize “Europa Diary” Contest 2018 (audio visual project), first prize Play Radio Contest (for the best “Queen” cover) 2018, second prize “Language and Drama Lab” –English Theater Festival 2016 (for best actress), many first prizes on national and international Solfeggio and Piano Competitions in Serbia 2013-2016…
Her latest project is focused on writing and arranging original music and she had the opportunity to present it at the international “Keep an Eye” Jazz competition in Amsterdam this April in BIMHUIS and was invited to participate in this year’s “Betty Carter Jazz Ahead” program for young composers, arrangers and performers in Washington DC. This July, she joined the JM Jazz World Orchestra and shared the stage with some of the best young jazz musicians around the globe under the lead of Louis Bonilla, developing her performing and artistic skills and touring some of the greatest summer jazz festivals in the region – More Than Jazz Festival Udine, Dubrovnik Summer Festival, Jazz is Back BP Festival Groznjan, Kotor Art Festival.
She is currently studying Vocal Pedagogy and a Master’s Program in Jazz Singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, living and performing in Austria and region.

When it comes to jazz, vocalists such as Nancy Wilson and Sarah Vaughan inspire her the most – she is fascinated by their phrasing of melodies and storytelling skills. Also, young singers/songwriters like Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, and Adele influence her when it comes to pop, R’n’B, and writing her own music.
These influences can certainly be heard in her interpretations, however, she sets herself apart by making her own mark on each and every performance.
